:Coronary Angiogram & Coronary Angiography :- Pressure exerted inside Heart chambers is measured by a procedure called as Coronary Angiography. This is often done along with Cardiac Catheterization. There’s a thin hollow tube called Catheter which is passed through an artery. Cardiologist carefully moves it up into the heart. A technique called X-ray imaging is used to see Heart’s blood vessels which is also known as Coronary Angiogram and is done to see generally if there’s any restriction in blood flow going which is goint towards the Heart. If you are having your angiogram done as an outpatient: you will stay in the hospital for four to six hours after the procedure is completed. Recovery from angioplasty and stenting is typically brief. Discharge from the hospital is usually 12 to 24 hours after the catheter is removed. Many patients are able to return to work within a few days to a week after a procedure. During the catheterization an angiogram is usually performed. This is done by injecting special fluid (called dye or contrast) through the catheter into a blood vessel or a chamber of the heart. An angiogram requires much more X-ray than is needed for a simple chest X-ray.
